I made sure my dog's ears were clean. Followed. The directions applied to the ears in the canal massage it in, is it said to do a few hours later, my dog's ears were blood red, irritated, she was shaking her head and I had to clean it all out. Seriously discount for about an hour before it finally was cleaned all the way out. Good enough and the redness went away, very unhappy with this product and what I spent to get it.
