What is Feline Stomatitis?
Feline stomatitis is a very painful inflammation of the gums and oral mucosa, affecting cats from 4 months to 17 years old. The incidence rate increases with age.
How does it manifest?

How can it be treated?

Treating chronic stomatitis in cats is a challenge. In cases of obvious disease and, especially, in the presence of significant pain, analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs based on cortisone are used.
It is important to emphasize that these are, however, temporary remedies that rarely solve the problem. They are only palliative treatments used during acute phases, and when they are stopped, the oral inflammatory condition is worse than before. Almost always, in fact, the veterinarian must proceed with tooth extraction, either partial or total. In severe cases, the latter is the only definitive option.
What happens if no action is taken immediately?
Stomatitis is one of the most frustrating causes of chronic mouth pain; over time, gum inflammation will spread throughout the entire oral mucosa, causing so much discomfort that it will make your cat’s life a living hell and, consequently, yours as well.

As soon as we arrived at the Clinic, the Doctor presented us with this brief but “intense” report:
The cat tested positive for FIV and FELV, had ulcers on the tip of the tongue, and a severe case of gingivitis and stomatitis that prevented her from eating.
