Detailed Report
Gina is a 6-year-old spayed cat. She lives in an apartment and shares the space with three other cats.
She follows a commercial diet, and parasite prevention is maintained for her and the other three.
The owner brought Gina in for a check-up due to a round, hairless lesion with erythematous edges, located on the right temple and moderately itchy. The general physical examination is normal, so I proceed with the dermatological examination.
The Scotch test is negative, while the Wood's lamp examination is positive. The trichological examination of the fluorescent hairs shows invasion of hyphae and spores on the shaft. Diagnosis of dermatophytosis and I start treatment with Aloeplus Classic Paste 2 ml every 4 kg of body weight per day, and application of Aloeplus Dermo Spray on the lesion once a day. After 5 days of treatment, the cat scratches less and the lesion has improved: inflammation has decreased in the central area and persists only at the edges. On day 13, the itching has disappeared and hair regrowth is already visible with residual crusts at the lesion margins. After 28 days, the cat was brought in for a medical check-up and the temporal region was completely covered with hair. She no longer had itching and dermatological tests confirmed her recovery.
